Servers/Virtualization

Server technology has by far undergone the most dramatic change over the past decade compared to other components of the  IT Infrastructure. Servers have evolved to become much more efficient in both their size and operating expense.  Whether you are a small business ready to purchase your first or an enterprise adding on to your existing infrastructure, several important decisions must be made.  What sort of hardware resources are required? Is it best for the server to be physical or is virtualization as the most cost-efficient approach? On-premise or Cloud-based?  Skywave Technology Partners has the experience you can count on.  Specializing in the small to mid-size business, but experienced in the global enteprise, we have the resources to fit any situation.

Physical Servers

A Physical Server is the most common in many environments.  They vary in size and cost as there are many different types of applications and uses for them. Servers can provide services like email, domain authentication, web sites, database access, and many more.

Securing your systems and ensuring they are running to their full potential requires ongoing maintenance and administration.  While a non-IT professional can execute simple tasks like applying updates and creating new users, best practice calls for a seasoned engineer who understands the cause and effect of every action. Compatibility issues can often arise as changes are made and one must be able to quickly identify and resolve them.  A minor mistake can result in a major outage.

Skywave Technology Partners has dedicated engineers that specialize in the architecture and support of these High-Powered systems.  Consider us your trusted partner for Dell and HP Servers.

Virtual Servers

Server Virtualization is quickly becoming a staple in both small and large IT Infrastructures alike. Research has shown that Physical servers often use only a small percentage of their hardware resources. This results in organizations paying a bunch of money for equipment that just ends up sitting idle. What if you could take all that unused hardware and build additional servers out of it. Well, you can!

Physical Server inefficiency has been solved with the introduction of the Virtual Hypervisor. A Hypervisor is a piece of software that installs on the physical server and presents virtual layers for operating system installation, referred to as 'virtual machines’.  Each VM is provisioned from a pool of hardware with all the components of a traditional server such as processor, hard drive, memory, and network interfaces. With many virtual servers running on few physicals servers, or Virtual Hosts, you are getting much more out of your IT investment.

Skywave Technology Partners has specialized in virtualization for over a decade. We have formed strategic relationships with traditional partners VMWare and Dell, as well as Nutanix who offers a converged solution that ties storage and hardware into the same backplane resulting in higher performance and smaller footprint.

On-Premise

The On-Premise server solution is common in 95% of networks around the world.  This model can be fairly complex in that an organization must consider physical security, network security, and environmental security. Heating and Cooling as well as Power Stability are all major factors that are often overlooked.

A proper On-Premise implementation requires components such as a battery backup system, data backup solutions (onsite and offsite), as well as a secure room with sufficient airflow and cooling. Threats to the On-Premise solution include anything from Fire and Flood to Weather and Theft.

Skywave Technology Partners knows how to properly secure your IT Infrastructure against any type of risk.

Cloud-Based

The Cloud-Based approach is referenced when some or all of the server infrastructure is hosted in a remote Datacenter, managed by a third-party.  Popular services hosted in the ‘Cloud’ include Exchange Servers, Backup Storage Services, Application and Web Servers, even Virtual Desktops. A reputable cloud provider will often provide backups of the systems they host and some will go as far as providing Internet services as part of their hosting package.

SkywaveTP is your trusted advisor for ‘Cloud Computing’.  Private, Hybrid, and Public cloud offerings can be supported on one of our many diverse platforms, designed with your business in mind.  Our engineers specialize in cloud architecture allowing business to minimize the management overhead and risks of an On-Premise solution.
